Late Edo Period Musha Ningyo of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. This wonderful example of high quality has an extraordinary presence, sumptuous brocades, gold lacquered armor, a spectacular helmet, and many other fine details. His face is gorgeously and masterfully carved with finely burnished gofun. Figure height: 20 inches (51cm), with arrows: 25 inches (63.5 cm). Excellent Condition.

Late Edo Period Japanese Bronze Turtle. A fascinating, finely casted bronze turtle, it has a wonderful attitude. The beautifully rendered form shares the feelings of the turtle with the viewer. 14.5 inches (37cm) long, 7.5 inches (19cm) across, and 5.5 inches (14cm) high.

Meiji Period Koransha Porcelain Dragon Vase, in ovoid form with gray Dragon and Clouds with under glaze charcoal. It is an accomplished work of fine Porcelain. Height: 4.5 inches, 11.5 cm.

A Beautiful Ode to Longevity by Watanabe Gashin, born 1944. Watanabe Gashin is a renowned calligrapher who has won many awards for his Japanese calligraphy. Yuasa Koufuu is an accomplished Japanese calligrapher. She is the recipient of many honors and prizes in Japan. Her style is very graceful and reminiscent of the famed Edo Period master, Rosetsu. A rare Japanese Fushimi clay sculpture of a Sino-Japanese War soldier. Fushimi Clay Dolls were painted dolls made of unglazed ceramic that were sold in front of the gate to Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine, starting in the 16th Century at the end of the Momoyama period. They are also called Fukakusa Dolls or Inari Dolls. A charming example of Japanese folk art of the Meiji Period. An important find for the folk art collector. 9.25 inches, 23.5 cm.

Massive Pair of Japanese Cloisonne enamel baluster vases, Meiji Period, each decorated in brightly colored enamels with butterflies hovering above various types of flowering chrysanthemum bushes, all silhouetted against a mirror black ground, stylized floral bands encircling the shoulder, waisted at the neck and above the flaring foot, and wide abstract foliate bands at the rim and foot (slight damage to the foot). Provenance: Former collection of Mettie C Jones, Long Beach, CA; items reputed to have been purchased at the Twentieth Century Fox studio auctions in 1935, and later MGM studio auctions. height: 47 inches, 120 cm.

Edo Period Japanese Musha Ningyô (Boy's Day Doll) depicting the legendary Toyotomi Hideyoshi seated in a court position wearing dramatic brocades and lacquered armor, a fan in his right hand and wearing a classic Eboshi cap. His face is finely carved with a regal expression. Height: 15 inches (38cm), width: 15 inches (38cm).

A wonderful 19th Century Boy's Day Ningyo of a boy dressed as a Samurai in full armor, featuring a dragon, sword, helmet, and bow and arrows. His wonderful face is carved of wood and covered with many layers of Gofun (oyster sell lacquer). He is riding a battle horse in full dress, all creating a spectacular work of art. The original wood box is included. Height: 23 inches (58.5cm), width: 18 inches (46cm).
